ALPHA PHI’S IDEALS
SISTERHOOD
Being sisters means standing hand-in-hand to support one another through all aspects of life. It means being there for each other and always having someone to lean on, share exciting moments with, and encourage to be the best version of themselves to achieve new and exciting things. Sisterhood is all about support, unconditional love, and an unbreakable bond.
INNOVATION
This core value stems from the innovative spirits of our 10 founders in 1872. These women made history, creating their own fraternity for women, after being denied into the men’s fraternities on campus at Syracuse University. These women with their courageous ambitions, established a baseline for the impact of Alpha Phi as we know it. They didn’t back down from the challenges they faced and worked together to create the sisterhood we know and love today.
GENEROSITY
Alpha Phi believes strongly in expressing generosity to both sisters and the world around us. The heart of Alpha Phi is represented through generosity in our community service efforts, raising awareness for heart health, and advancing the lives of women around the world. The Alpha Phi Foundation is powered by philanthropic efforts like grants, scholarships, and leadership opportunities to raise awareness for women’s heart health.
CHARACTER
Upholding high standards of character means being inclusive and supportive, showcasing the qualities of being kind and caring. This ideal is important to us as we continue to grow and learn from the qualities of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
